Prepare to Enter the Virtual Classroom
To ensure that your computer is properly prepared to access the virtual classroom for your LIVE! or MyTime lecture, follow these
easy steps..
Step 1- Review System Requirements
Your Online workshop is delivered by our virtual classroom platform Elluminate LIVE!. Prior to accessing your workshop, you will want to make sure that your computer meets the following minimum system requirements.
Minimum System Requirements
Before you can get started in a NHA LIVE or MyTime virtual classroom session, you should ensure that your computer is able to support the needs of the classroom environment (Elluminate). Depending on your computer’s operating system, your computer should meet or exceed the following minimum requirements: (Click Your Operating System To View Specific Requirements)
Windows
- Windows 98 or ME or 2000 or XP
- Pentium III 500 MHz processor
- 128 MB RAM for 98 and ME, 256 MB RAM for 2000 and XP
- 20 MB free disk space
- Soundcard with speakers and a microphone or headset (preferred)
- 28.8 kbps Internet connection
Macintosh
- Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.2.8 or 10.3.9 or 10.4
- G3 or G4, or G5 or Intel Processor
- 128 MB RAM for OS 9.x, 256 MB RAM for OS X
- 20 MB free disk space
- Microphone (internal, USB, or iSight)
- 28.8 kbps Internet connection
- NOTE: For a better audio signal, we recommend using an external microphone and external speakers. Common PC microphones do not work in a Mac microphone jack, so Mac users should use USB microphones. The internal microphone in an iSight camera is supported under OS X 10.3.9 or later.

Video Cameras
- Our virtual classroom platform (Elluminate) supports 24 Bit RGB color, many compressed video formats, DirectX video and high end cameras such as FireWire Song Camcorders. Some cameras that do not have a CODEC for 24 Bit RGB color support may not work with Elluminate.
Step 2 – Download Software
If this is your first time using Elluminate, you will need to install Sun Microsystems Java Web Start TM on your computer.

Step 3 – (LIVE! EVENTS ONLY) – Join the Configuration Room
To complete your setup, join the Configuration Room, to ensure that you connect and that your audio levels are set properly.
Virtual Classroom Orientation
Join the virtual classroom orientation and learn more about the features of the classroom. The orientation will also prepare you to participate in your first virtual classroom event!
